Yesterday we did a fun letter recognition activity to go along with our Little Blue Truck Preschool Unit! I printed and prepped the printable by laminating it and adding velcro dots. Rilynn loves the sound and feel that the velcro dots make, so I often add them to activities to encourage her to engage. You only need 3 items to re-create this alphabet match activity (Below are affiliate links for your convenience).
After you prep the activity, I encourage you to sit down and read through Little Blue Truck! We pointed out the pages where the trucks were stuck in the mud so that she would have a tie in to the activity. Then I provided the printable and letter pieces for her to match.
As she would pick up a truck, I’d ask her what letter it was and she would call it out. Then she would locate the matching letter in the mud and stick it down.
Sometimes she would rip a truck up just to hear the velcro and then stick it back down, so once again, the velcro was a win.
This is a simple and wonderful way to explore Little Blue Truck. It would also make a great, mess-free plane or “in the car” activity! To grab your free printable, head over to our Little Blue Truck Preschool Unit post!
